When Theodore Davenport decides to switch his mundane job for a career, he walks into Holden House Publishing with enthusiasm and determination to succeed. James Holden hasn’t been able to stop thinking about his encounter with the timid man he met in a club bathroom last week, and when he discovers the one haunting his dreams is an employee, he can’t seem to stop himself from pursuing him. Just a little fun - that’s what James tells himself. He can’t afford to care for someone who can never reciprocate, not once they find out who he really is. More importantly, is James? (M/M romance. REVIEW BY T:
I can honestly say this book had me sucked in right away since what it is that James has to endure is something that I am well aware of. Nicola you did a truly amazing job.
“Physical pain is easier to deal with. The pain in my head, the ache in my chest, if I don’t release it…transfer it, it feels like it could kill me.”
Meeting James at first you may say that he is a self-centered person who only thinks of himself. That he has so much conceited inside of him that he feels he can get anyone he wants. Yet, once you take a minute to be inside him, inside his head you will see the true him. The one that is out to please everyone. The one that just wants to know what it feels like to be loved. Not loved by the one that are suppose to love him, but loved by some true. Sadly though he cannot allow this for you see dealing with his disease takes over him more than he would like. However, once Theodore walks into his life he does not know how to handle these feelings that have irrupted inside of him.
“The only thing discussing my problems achieves is placing that burden on someone else. It doesn’t take it away from me. It just means I have to watch somebody else suffer beside myself.”
Theodore aka Theo is a guy that you want in your life. Starting out in life a little late in his dream job he finds happiness in knowing that he is one step closer to achieving it. As Theo adventures out with his friends he is met by a man that he cannot forget, mentally or physically. Yet, because of this he must stay back and not let it show once it is found out who this man with a body & face of a god that makes him drool is. As time passes Theo learns of what is truly happening to the man he has fallen in love with. But you see he must decide at this point if he is able to help & stand by this man. Through this all we see who Theo really is. The man he truly is. The human being with so much compassion & love.
Will these men find the love that is deep inside for each other? Will these men be able to help one another fight the battle that they both are having? Will true love show us that it wins all the time?

“Broken is truly a remarkable book. I was blown away by it, by the raw and sincere way Ms. Haken took these men through the roller coaster of living with unrelenting demons. And now, as I sit here wondering if I have to courage to post this review, all I can think about is how far into my heart Theo and James have embedded themselves--and how I hope they never leave. I think it might be too hard to say goodbye...although maybe not as hard as it was find the words that I hope compel you to read this breathtaking book.” ~ Beth, Give Me Books
“A stunning but achingly painful read” ~ Author Sloane Kennedy
“This is an amazing book full of so much raw emotion that it gripped me and wouldn't let up. I felt like I was watching a movie in my head and I wanted to just jump in the book and give James a huge hug. Lots of FEELz in this book.. both good and bad.” ~ Alpha Book Club
